Bill Dimmer has been a full time member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra since 1971. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary and has studied in Denmark with members of the Royal Danish Orchestra and in Chicago with members of the Chicago Symphony. As a trumpet player he has made numerous appearances on radio, television and recordings. Bill has performed with organizations such as the Tommy Banks Band and the Plumbers Union -- a recorder ensemble which gave a Command Performance for the Queen during the 1978 Summer Commonwealth Games.
He is also an active adjudicator and conductor and was Associate Director of the Edmonton Cosmopolitan Bands. He is currently music director of Nova Musica, a community orchestra in Edmonton
Bill is host/narrator of the Edomonton Symphony Orchestra's Educational Concert series, former Director of the residential summer music workshop, MusiCamrose and has been a faculty member at The University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan College/Alberta College Conservatory and Concordia College.
Bill is also a pilot and flies with and has served in several senior administrative positions for Civil Air Search and Rescue (CASARA) Edmonton.
